A 22-year-old British man was arrested on suspicion of terrorism offenses linked to a suspected plan to carry out an attack on UK airbase.

Counter terrorism police said Tuesday that it had made its seventh arrest connected to the incident while that searches of a property in Westminster have also been carried out.

Five men in the 20s were arrested on Sunday, Sept. 27 near the Royal Air Force Fairford base in the south west of England triggering a major incident that forced the evacuation of dozens of homes. A sixth person was arrested on Oct. 1 and all men remain on police bail.

“We’re acutely aware of the public interest in this investigation, and we are working around the clock, and at pace, to identify the motivation behind events in Gloucestershire. We remain committed to investigating all possible angles,” Vicki Evans, Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, said.

The Pentagon has subsequently removed bombers based at RAF Fairford, which has served as the preferred forward operating base for bomber aircraft in Europe for the US Air Force Global Strike Command.
