Blue Origin LLC is likely to pursue an initial public offering within the next several years, after raising billions of dollars in its first outside funding round, billionaire founder Jeff Bezos said.
“I see the financial future of Blue with some clarity now,” Bezos, who also founded Amazon.com Inc., told Fox News on Wednesday at the company’s Florida factory.
After its fundraising round, it “probably makes sense for Blue Origin to be a public company at some point,” Bezos said, adding it wouldn’t happen until “several years from now.”

Bezos has bankrolled the company since its founding, funneling $28 billion into its rockets, spacecraft and other initiatives. The company recently raised $10 billion from outside investors — and may take more, Bezos said.
The company’s New Glenn rocket, which is intended to rival SpaceX’s workhorse Falcon 9, is expected to fly again in December, he added.
Blue Origin is racing to return to flight after an explosion in May blew up its rocket and destroyed the company’s launchpad.
