Federal Agents Search Representative Omar’s Washington-Area Home

Federal agents searched Representative Ilhan Omar’s Washington-area home on Monday, an escalation in the Trump administration’s scrutiny of the Minnesota Democrat, according to a person familiar with the matter.

“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” the Justice Department said in a statement. The department described the search as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation but did not identify whose home was searched.

Administration officials have said the agency is investigating Omar’s immigration history. The congresswoman has repeatedly denied allegations of wrongdoing, calling them false and politically motivated.
