Low-cost airline AirAsia X has postponed the launch of its Gulf hub in Bahrain until at least August due to the conflict in the Middle East.
Operations are expected to commence in August or September, depending on operational and market conditions, the airline said in a statement on Thursday. The route — originally scheduled to start in June — was set to connect Kuala Lumpur with Bahrain and onward to London Gatwick.
AirAsia X remains committed to developing Bahrain as a key strategic hub, General Manager Benyamin Ismail said in the statement.
“We will continue to closely monitor developments and review our network plans in line with evolving market conditions, operational considerations and travel demand,” he said.
