Trinidad and Tobago’s energy minister, Roodal Moonilal, said that Venezuela’s granting of a license to Shell Plc for the exploration and exploitation of gas will lead to 1.7 trillion cubic feet of gas being exported to his country.
That license was granted on June 11.
He told a bipartisan economic affairs committee late Friday that the gas would be extracted from Venezuela’s Loran field and processed in via the Shell-owned Manatee Platform, which will be located in Trinidadian waters.
Moonilal said final approval of the Loran project by the Trinidad and Tobago government is pending.
