Nigel Farage’s Reform UK cleared two senior party figures of breaking the law when discussing a potential £500,000 ($661,000) gift from an American donor.

In a 27-page report published on Wednesday, Reform said neither Farage’s long-time media adviser Dan Jukes, nor policy adviser James Orr violated electoral law in their discussions with the purported donor or his son. It also concluded there was no wrongdoing over the funding of opinion polls.

The party launched its probe last month after Channel 4 News aired a report showing the two men appearing to discuss how to circumvent electoral law to accept foreign donations.

Jukes and Orr stepped aside from their roles as the report overshadowed Reform’s annual conference in Birmingham. British police, meanwhile, added the allegations to an ongoing investigation into the party’s finances.

“The investigation found no evidence that any laws were broken,” Reform said in a statement. “Reform UK takes its obligations on governance and conduct extremely seriously.”

While Reform is seeking to draw a line under the donations row, the police probe is ongoing, and Farage is also under investigation by Parliamentary standards authorities over a separate personal gift he accepted before returning to politics in the run-up to the 2024 general election. He denies wrongdoing.

Reform said it plans to take legal action against Verbatim, the undercover journalism group that produced the Channel 4 report.

The Telegraph reported the results of the Reform investigation earlier Wednesday.
